BENEFITS OF BUYING TEAK WOOD FURNITURE

Through out this website, you have read about how durable teak furniture is.  The average life of outdoor teak wood patio furniture is approximately 75 years.  Teak is resistant to insect damage, water, wind, and sun.  To this list, you can also add children, and grandchildren.  I inherited my grandparents’ teak tree bench and garden bench.  Both pieces of furniture have always set outside in the weather.  When my father brought me the pieces, he estimated that they were close to if not over 100 years old, as my grandparents inherited the furniture from an Aunt, who had past.  Both pieces still are in excellent condition.

When you invest in real teak garden furniture, you are investing in true value.  Because teak wood is an extremely dense-grained wood, it is highly resistant to rot, warping, shrinkage, and swelling.  This also reduced the damage caused by two very rambunctious American Staffordshire terrier puppies that were teething on the leg of my garden bench.  According to some articles found in several British gardening publications, many of the benches found in many of England’s public parks today originally came from recycled decking of old sailing ships, making the wood of these benches approximately a century old.

Another reason why teak wood makes such a great investment is that it is also so easy to take care of, as all you need to do is annual clean it with mild warm soapy water.  When left to the elements, teak wood will slowly age, developing a beautiful silver gray coloring.  The teak wood furniture that I inherited stays outside year around, and is as beautiful as the day I first placed it around my magnolia trees.

It is important to know that in some of the teak furniture manufactured today, some manufacturers use solid brass castings, screws, and bolts to reinforce the construction of the furniture.  It is important that if your teak furniture does have metal hardware that it is solid brass as brass will not rust, no matter what the weather conditions.

Teak outdoor furniture is available as dining room tables, matching chairs, garden benches, steamer chairs, chaise lounges, Adirondack chairs, and so much more.  Any form of furniture that you want you can find in the form of Teak furniture.  In closing, I would like to suggest that you carefully choose the style of your teak furniture as it will more than likely end up as a family heirloom, being past down through the years for a very long time.
